What we collect
Only what you type into an enquiry form. Across the charter, valuation and general enquiry forms that means: your name, email address, telephone number where given, and the contents of your message — plus the structured fields relevant to that form, such as guest numbers, preferred region, approximate dates, or a vessel's builder, year and length.
Browsing the site collects nothing. There is no analytics package, no advertising pixel, no third-party embed and no tracking cookie. The only thing written to your browser is a single sessionStorage entry recording that you have already watched the opening animation, so that it plays faster on your next page load. It is cleared when you close the tab and is never sent to us.
Why we hold it
To reply to you, and to carry out the brokerage, charter or valuation work you have asked about. Where a matter proceeds, we retain correspondence because we are contractually and professionally obliged to keep a record of the advice we gave.
Under UK and EU data protection law our lawful basis is legitimate interest for responding to an unsolicited enquiry, and performance of a contract once you instruct us.
What we will not do
- We do not operate a marketing list. You will not be added to one by making an enquiry, because one does not exist.
- We do not sell, rent or share your details with third parties for their own purposes.
- We do not pass your identity to a yacht's owner or their representatives without asking you first.
- We do not profile you or make automated decisions about you.
Who else sees it
Enquiries reach a named partner and the administrator supporting them. Beyond that, only the service providers required to run the business: our email and document hosting, and — where a transaction proceeds — the surveyors, lawyers and escrow agents you have agreed we should instruct.
Some of those providers operate outside the UK and EEA. Where they do, transfers are made under the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
An enquiry that does not lead anywhere is deleted after 24 months. Where we act for you, records are kept for seven years after the matter closes, which is the period our professional indemnity insurers and anti-money-laundering obligations require.
Your rights
You may ask us for a copy of what we hold, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict what we do with it, or to object to us holding it at all. Write to office@horizonprivate.com and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to your national supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office.
